Shooting schedule for Saturday 22nd

Throughout the past few weeks, we have been planning our additional shots to improve to our trailer. We decided to film this Saturday, so that in this week's lessons we can plan our other products, being a poster and a magazine front cover, so that we can take photos on the day of our filming. Below, on the storyboard video, are the pictures that we will be shooting on Saturday to add to our trailer. We either altered ideas that we already had, such as the running scene, with the close up of the feet, or created new ideas. We watched a range of trailers to get an idea on typical conventions, and expand our knowledge on the genre, so that we could achieve these ideas. For example, we watched a trailer where there were a range of quick shots of a man becoming increasingly scared and looking possessed, we adapted these ideas to fit our trailer; such as we are going to make the end of our trailer appear darker and faster, this will be achieved by speeding the shots up as they play and the music will help create a more tense and climatic feel.

Health and Safety

To help overcome any danger with our new added shots, we created another health and safety video so that we can avoid any dangerous situations.

Storyboard for new shot ideas

(These shots are not in order)

  • The first shot is where we adapted the running scene, which is a point of view shot of the girl running and looking at her feet.
  • The next shot is where the girl is being strangled to add to the danger element.
  • There is a scene of a bath, where the girl looks as though she is being drowned.
  • We changed the falling down the hill shot, to the girl crawling up the hill and being dragged, with the camera looking down on her, connoting that she is inferior.
  • There is en a close up reaction shot where the girl has mud around her face.
  • There is a shot of the protagonist with a cut on her face.
  • After this, there a shot of the girl’s friend on the phone to her, which suddenly there is no one answering back. This will lead to a reaction shot.
  • There is a shot of the girl studying the poltergeist activity.
  • We are going to add more shots of the Ouija board to highlight that this is the cause of the strange events.
  • There are a few shots of landscape as we felt that our trailer included too many people shots, and that it would look better with more scenery, we got this idea from The silence of the Lambs trailer.
  • We are going to add a shot where the girl is talking on the webcam, and then the camera will go off. This will be a perspective/over the shoulder shot of the two girls talking to one another, this will probably end the trailer, where there is then a white noise effect, where the whole screen turns off
  • There is a shot of the two girls, one reaching out to the other, as though she is helping her. They are under a bridge, highlighting a sense of freedom.
